Not Just for Keyboards

SWIPE

Activate Tabber with three or four-finger swipe up gesture

Tabber can open with a trackpad swipe instead of the keyboard — swipe up with three or four fingers to bring up the switcher, exactly as if you'd pressed Alt+Tab.

How it works

  • Swipe up with the fingers you've enabled to open Tabber.

  • Once it's open, use your trackpad or mouse to click the app you want, or swipe back down to close Tabber without switching.

  • Lifting your fingers after the swipe up doesn't select anything on its own — Tabber stays open until you click an app or swipe down. This is intentional: after opening with a swipe, the natural next move is a normal one-finger point-and-click, not holding a gesture in place.

Choosing 3 fingers, 4 fingers, or both

In Tabber's Settings, under Trackpad Gesture, turn on "Enable trackpad swipe-up gesture" and choose which finger counts should trigger it. Three-finger and four-finger are independent — check one, the other, or both, based on what feels natural on your hardware and doesn't collide with gestures you already use for other things.

Requirements

This feature needs a Windows Precision Touchpad. Most modern laptops (2015 or newer) use one; if your trackpad relies on an older vendor driver, the gesture won't be available.

Turning off the matching Windows gesture

Windows has its own built-in three- and four-finger swipe gestures (for things like Task View or Switch Desktops), and they can fire at the same time as Tabber's — you'll see Windows' own animation alongside Tabber opening. To avoid the conflict, turn off Windows' swipe action for whichever finger count(s) you've enabled in Tabber. You only need to change the ones you're actually using.

Windows 11:

  • Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad.

  • Scroll to Three-finger gestures (or Four-finger gestures).

  • Set the Swipes dropdown to Nothing.

  • Repeat for the other finger count if you've enabled both in Tabber.

Windows 10:

  • Open Settings → Devices → Touchpad.

  • Find Three-finger gestures (or Four-finger gestures).

  • Set the Swipes action to Nothing.

  • Repeat for the other finger count if needed.

Your other trackpad gestures — scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, three/four-finger taps — are unaffected. This only turns off the swipe action for the finger count(s) you choose.
